PASTELITOS DE BODA (BRIDE'S
COOKIES)
 
2 c. flour
1/2 c. sifted powdered sugar
2 sticks softened butter
Pinch of salt
1 c. chopped pecans
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Mix the flour, sugar, salt, and nuts together. Stir in the vanilla. Work the butter into the mixture until it forms a ball. Shape the dough into 24 patties; place on a cookie sheet; and bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes, or until the cookies are delicately brown. Lift off the cookie sheet; cool slightly on wire racks; then dust thickly with powdered sugar.

VARIATIONS:

POLVORONES DE CARELA: Replace pecans with 1/4 cup flour and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon. While still warm, roll in a mixture of 2 cups powdered sugar and 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon sifted together.

POLVORONES: Substitute 1/2 cup flour for pecans.

May substitute peanuts, almonds, or other nuts for the pecans.

Just a comment: If you're going to post something, at least spell it correctly. It's CANELA, not carela. I'm not even sure that one is a word at all!
