HAMBURGER SOUP 
1 lb. ground beef
1 c. chopped onion
1 c. cubed raw potato, skinned, uncooked
1 c. sliced raw carrots, uncooked
1/2 c. diced celery
1 c. shredded cabbage
1 lg. can whole tomatoes (2 1/2 c.)
1/4 c. raw rice, uncooked
1 sm. bay leaf, crushed
1/2 tsp. dried thyme
1/4 tsp. dried basil
5 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
Grated Cheddar cheese
Parmesan cheese

In kettle cook beef with onions until slightly brown; add potatoes with next 4 ingredients. Bring to a boil. Sprinkle in rice, add bay leaf (crushed) and next 5 ingredients. Cover and simmer slowly for 1 hour. Serve with Cheddar cheese on top and sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top of Cheddar cheese.
