OATMEAL BARS 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
2 c. oatmeal
1/2 c. liquid (from raisins)
2 eggs
2 c. flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda

Simmer 1 cup raisins in a small amount of water for a few minutes. Drain and save enough of this liquid to make 1/2 cup. Add remaining ingredients to creamed sugar and shortening. Bake in a greased 9x13 pan at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes. Frost with a thin powdered sugar frosting. These bars freeze well.
