ENGLISH TOFFEE 
2 sticks butter
1 c. sugar
3 tsp. water
1 c. chopped nuts
3 plain chocolate bars

Combine butter, sugar and water in heavy saucepan and boil, stirring constantly until the color of light brown sugar. The length of cooking time is not critical. Add chopped nuts. Pour candy onto greased platter.

Place chocolate bars on hot toffee and spread the melting chocolate over the toffee. Cool before breaking into serving sized bits. The chocolate hardens best in the refrigerator.
