COLD OVEN POUND CAKE 
1/2 lb. softened butter
1/2 c. shortening
3 2/3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. lemon flavoring
3 c. sugar
6 eggs
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream together butter, shortening and sugar. Beat in eggs one at a time. Sift flour and baking powder together 3 times and add alternately with milk. Add flavorings. Bake 1 1/2 hours or until straw comes out clean starting in a cold oven at 325 degrees. DO NOT PREHEAT OVEN.

HINTS: When adding alternately the flour and milk, start with flour and end with flour for a very moist cake. This cake will not work well or at all in a gas oven.
