1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
1/3 cup brown sugar, lightly packed
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. peppermint flavoring
1 cup plus 2 tbsp. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped nuts (I use walnuts)

Preheat oven to 375°F

Cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Add egg and beat well. Add flavoring and sifted dry ingredients; mixing thoroughly. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto lightly greased cookie sheets.

Bake at 375°F for about 10 minutes or until delicately browned.

Cool on wire rack before storing in an airtight container.
