MISS ANNIE'S HOMEMADE ROLLS | |
1 c. sweet milk 1 pkg. yeast 3 1/2 c. (or more) plain flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1 egg, separated 2 tbsp. sugar 3 tbsp. melted Crisco Heat milk to lukewarm. Pour 1/2 cup into dish and dissolve yeast. Pour rest of milk into large bowl. Add 1 cup flour, salt, and egg yolk; mix well. Add sugar and shortening. Mix well. Add yeast mixture and beaten egg whites. Add remaining flour to make a soft dough. Grease top and cover. Let rise until twice its size. Form dough into rolls and allow to rise 2 hours. Bake at 450 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until brown. The unbaked dough may also be refrigerated and used within 24 hours. |
