CREAMY NUT ICING 
1/2 c. shortening
2 1/2 tbsp. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
3 c. sifted confectioners' sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. coarsely chopped nuts

Melt shortening in saucepan. Remove from heat. Blend in flour and salt. Stir in slowly milk. Bring to boil, stirring constantly. Boil 1 minute. (If mixture curdles, do not be alarmed). Remove from heat. Stir in confectioners' sugar. Set saucepan in bowl of cold water. Beat until consistency to spread. Stir in vanilla and nuts.
