ICE BOX COOKIES 
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. vegetable oil (Mazola or Wesson)
3 eggs
1 pkg. dates
4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. chopped nuts

Cut dates and nuts. Set aside. Add oil to white sugar and cream. Add brown sugar and cream again. Add eggs, one at a time, and beat hard. Sift dry ingredients together, adding dates and nuts. Combine mixtures. Pack into loaf pan and set to freeze overnight, or until ready to bake. Cut thin with a sharp knife and bake at 350 degrees 8 to 10 minutes. Cool on rack. When cool, store in covered jar or can.
