MOM'S ICE BOX COOKIES 
1 lb. butter
2 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs, well beaten
2 tbsp. white syrup
1 tbsp. vanilla
5 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. pecans, chopped

Mix first 5 ingredients, set aside. In separate bowl, mix flour, soda and salt, then add together by using 1/3 of flour mixture until well blended; add pecans. Using waxed paper, shape into rolls, and chill so dough can be sliced 1/4 inch thick. Bake at 350 degrees on greased tin 10 to 15 minutes.
