2 c. sugar
2 c. raisins
2 c. water
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. salt
1 c. lard or butter
3 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda

Boil together everything but the flour and soda. Let cool, then add flour and soda. Bake at 350 degrees.
