BOILED CHOCOLATE CAKE 
1/4 cake or 2 sq. Baker's chocolate
1 1/2 c. milk
Yolks of 3 eggs
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 tbsp. butter
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
2 1/4 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Whites of the 3 eggs

Cook chocolate, milk and egg yolks in double boiler until thick. Let cool. Cream sugar and butter. Beat chocolate mixture into this. Add dry ingredients, then vanilla and the whites of the eggs well beaten. Bake in three 9 inch layer cake pans.

FILLING:

2 c. sugar
1/2 c. water
1/8 tsp. cream of tartar

Cook until mixture makes a soft ball in water. Pour into whites of 2 eggs and beat until thick and creamy. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla.
