NINE BEAN SOUP MIX 
1 lb. barley pearls
1 lb. dried black beans
1 lb. dried red beans
1 lb. dried pinto beans
1 lb. dried Great Northern beans
1 lb. dried navy beans
1 lb. dried lentils
1 lb. dried split peas
1 lb. dried black eye peas

Combine and divide into 10 (2 cup) portions.

NINE BEAN SOUP:

1 lb. ham or ham hock
1 tsp. chili powder or cumin
1 lg. onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, mined
1 (29 oz.) can of tomatoes
2 tsp. salt
4 tsp. lemon juice
2 c. bean mix

Place 2 cups bean mix in pan with salt and water to cover. Let soak overnight. Drain and combine beans, salt, 2 quarts water and ham. Cover and bring to boil, reduce heat. Simmer for 2 - 2 1/2 hours or until beans tender. Add rest of ingredients. Simmer 30 minutes. Stir occasionally.
