HOT BEAN-AND-POTATO SALAD 
4 slices bacon
1 med. size onion, sliced
1 clove garlic, minced (optional)
4 med. potatoes (peeled if desired), sliced
About 3/4 c. water
1/2 tsp. salt
1 pkg. (9 oz.) frozen green beans
1/4 c. bottled oil-vinegar type Italian dressing, or to taste

Cook bacon in skillet over medium heat until crisp. Drain on paper towels; crumble and reserve. Discard all but 1 tablespoon bacon fat. Add onion and garlic, stirring occasionally, cook until golden, about 3 minutes. Stir in potatoes and water; season with salt.
