1/2 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce 1/2 c. bread crumbs 1 lb. chopped round steak 1/4 c. chopped green pepper 1/4 c. chopped onion 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. oregano 1/8 tsp. pepper 1 1/3 c. Minute Rice (or use cooked rice) 1 c. water 1/2 tsp. salt 1 1/2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce 1 c. grated cheese, cheddar preferred Combine for crust 1/2 can tomato sauce, bread crumbs, round steak, green pepper, onion, 1 1/2 teaspoon salt, oregano and pepper. Mix well. Pat mixture into the bottom and sides of pan. Pinch one inch flutings all around edges of a greased 9 inch pie plate. Set aside. Combine rice, tomato sauce, salt, water and 1/4 cup cheese. Spoon rice mixture into meat shell, cover with foil, bake in 350 degree oven 25 minutes. Uncover and sprinkle top with remaining cheese. Return to oven and bake uncovered 10 to 15 minutes more. Cut into pie shaped wedges. Yields 5 to 6 servings. |
