ICE BOX COOKIES (OLD RECIPE) 
1 c. shortening (has to be hog lard)
1 1/4 c. white sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt

Cream shortening, add sugar, gradually cream after each until light and fluffy. Add eggs, vanilla and beat well. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add to creamy mixture. Form dough by hand into 2 balls 8 inches (roll them).

Wrap in wax paper. Store in refrigerator. Bake as needed. Slice off. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
