CONGO BARS 
2 3/4 c. flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 c. shortening
2 1/4 c. brown sugar (1 lb. bag)
3 eggs
1 c. nut meats, broken
1 pkg. semi-sweet chocolate morsels

Mix and sift flour, baking powder and salt. Melt shortening and add brown sugar. Stir until well mixed. Allow to cool slightly. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add dry ingredients, then nut meats and chocolate.

Pour into greased pan about 10 1/2 x 15 1/2 x 3/4 inch. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Yield: 4 squares. When almost cool, cut into squares.
