WORLD'S BEST PEANUT BUTTER FUDGE
2 cups sugar
3/4 cup canned cream
2 tbsp. butter
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
4 tbsp. peanut butter, smooth or crunchy

Measure the sugar, canned cream and butter into a large sauce pan. Bring to a full, rolling boil over medium heat. Cook about 7 minutes over medium heat to the soft-ball stage. (This means when mixture is dripped from a spoon into a cup of cold water, it will easily form a soft ball when water is poured off.)

Remove from heat. Add salt, vanilla flavoring, and peanut butter. Beat with an electric mixer until candy is very stiff and ridges form easily while beating.

Butter the bottom and sides of a square baking dish and pour candy into prepared dish. Cool and cut into 1 1/2 inch squares.

HINTS: NEVER use milk, which makes the candy crumbly. I always double the recipe and pour into a 9 X 13 inch prepared baking dish. One batch is never enough for us.

World's Best Peanut Butter Fudge

Canned cream and canned condensed milk all began as regular old milk, it is a difference of how much water and fat is removed. An example-to make skim milk they remove more of the butterfat in milk, and to get cream they take away more of the water in milk to get a cream, which will eventually turn to butter if enough water is removed. I read that they are interchangeable.

I lost my grandmother's recipe, and this one was close, so I tried it out. The fudge turned out delicious and creamy. I couldn't find canned cream, so used heavy whipping cream... yum! The only other change I made was to beat by hand (didn't take long to start setting up) instead of using the electric mixer. Super good recipe... Thanks!

Canned cream is just that.. Canned cream! They sell it in Walmart -- its a small can. It is *not* evaporated milk!

Sorry Carolyn from Virginia, some people DeeDee from Michigan, have no good "bedside" manners. I too didn't know what "canned cream" was & still don't! I'm guessing it's sweetened condensed milk. Different parts of the country may have different wording/products, causing the confusion. We are just trying to learn, cut us a break! Be nice!

Just poured it into the dish to cool. I used extra generous tablespoons of peanut butter. Directions were easy to follow. My daugheter is already licking the spoon. Thanks for this recipe. I can't imagine why anyone would use confectioner's sugar or marshmallow cream to make fudge!
