3 qts. thinly sliced cucumbers 4 lg. onions, sliced thin 4 c. vinegar 4 c. sugar 1/3 c. salt 1/4 tsp. celery seed 1 1/4 tsp. mustard seed 1 1/4 tsp. turmeric 1/4 tsp. powdered alum Mix cucumbers and onions into gallon container. Mix remaining ingredients together. Pour over cucumbers and onions. Put lid on container and refrigerate. Shake container everyday for about 3 minutes. Store jar upright the first day and upside down the second day. Continue reversing the jar daily. Ready to serve in 5 days. These will last a year when kept well refrigerated. |
