EASY TEA CAKES
2 1/2 c. self-rising flour
1 stick butter, softened
1 1/8 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 c. milk

Beat egg, butter and sugar together. Add vanilla. Mix well and then add flour and milk to make a stiff dough. Divide mixture in half, roll out thin on piece of wax paper - one piece of dough at a time. Cut into 1 1/2 inch thick cookies, dust off excess flour. Place on cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Makes about 5 dozen.

 Emma Blanks (North Carolina) says:
I baked the cookies and they tasted good, but they taste different from my old recipe, of course back then I used half lard and half butter, my old recipe cookies tasted like a shortbread cookie 50 years ago. Smile, great recipe!
