GRANDMA'S SOFT GINGER COOKIES 
1 c. sugar
1 c. shortening 1/2 lard and 1/2 butter
1/2 c. molasses
3 eggs
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. baking soda
About 4 c. flour

Add soda and ginger to the first cup of flour and add flour 1 cup at a time. This dough can be rolled out and cut or shaped into balls and flattened with the bottom of a glass. (Don't roll too thin). Bake 5 to 6 minutes at 350 degrees. Do not brown. 5 or 6 dozen.

FROSTING WITH FONDANT ICING:

1 c. sugar
1/2 c. water
