BANANA BARS 
1/2 c. butter
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. sugar
3/4 c. buttermilk
2 ripe bananas
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Grease a 10 1/2 x 15 1/2 inch jelly roll pan. Cream sugar and butter, add eggs and mashed bananas and beat together well. Sift together on a piece of wax paper or in a bowl the dry ingredients. Then add alternately to batter with the buttermilk, ending with flour. Pour into pan and bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. Cool a little while and frost while warm with this frosting:

1/4 c. shortening (Crisco)
3 c. powdered sugar
1/4 c. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Beat all together very well and frost bars. Sprinkle chopped peanuts on top (optional).
