GREEK FANICKA COOKIES | |
1/2 lb. butter (no butter) 1 c. oil 1 egg 1 c. orange juice 1 c. sugar 2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. baking soda Flour enough to make soft dough SYRUP: 5 c. sugar 3 c. water 1 c. honey Beat butter, oil with sugar, egg and orange juice. Beat well. Add baking powder and soda and flour. Knead to desired consistency. Shape cookie oval shape. Bake until browned. Dip in syrup and roll in nuts to which cinnamon has been added to taste. Heat oven 400 degrees. Bake until brown. Keep syrup boiling and put cool cookies in syrup for 2 or 3 minutes. The longer you leave cookies in the more syrup they get. Then with slotted spoon take out of syrup and roll in nuts. Put each cookie in a cupcake paper. Store in a tight container. Makes a lot. |
