1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg
1/2 c. walnuts
1/2 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 c. oatmeal

Cream shortening. Add sugars and cream again. Add egg and mix thoroughly. Add vanilla and nuts, mix. Mix together separately flour, salt, and soda. Add to mixture. Add oatmeal. Stir well. Chill in freezer a few minutes. Mold into a roll about 2 inches in diameter. Wrap tightly in wax paper. Chill in refrigerator until firm. Slice about 1/4 inch thick. Place on baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
