FILLED COOKIES 
1 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
1 egg
Dash of salt
3 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. sweet milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda

Cream shortening and sugar. Add slightly beaten egg and vanilla. Mix well. Add milk and dry ingredients. Roll out very thin and cut in rounds.

FILLING:

1 c. raisins or dates
1 tbsp. flour
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. nuts

Put raisins or dates through the food grinder, using the medium blade. Mix flour and sugar together. Add raisins or dates and water; boil together until thick. Add nuts and cool. Place filling between 2 rounds of cookie, seal edge and bake at 375 degrees for 10-15 minutes or until lightly browned.
