I started making this cake over 25 years ago but haven't made it in a while - I'm making it today. It's great - kids and adults love it. It's somewhat like a pound cake (maybe a Half Pound cake as it calls for 1/2 pound of butter :-) ). I usually use half and put half in the freezer - it freezes very well and even tastes good right out of the freezer. My only question is - has anyone every baked this cake in ONE hour? A 300 degree oven is a slow oven...the cake I baked today took an hour and a half. Just keep that in mind - this cake is well worth the extra time :-)

My mother use to make this cake a long time ago! It was my favorite cake! I make it today for my grandson who now makes it his official birthday cake. It is always the best! The only thing I change is the amount of sugar. I just use 1 cup. I cook it for 1 hour though in 300°F oven. Comes out perfect! Just have to let it sit for awhile in the pan before removing.

My Mom introduced this cake to our Family over 20 years ago and has passed on the recipe to my brothers and I. It is a family Favorite and I bake it every year for the Holidays.
It doesn't take longer then an hour and It does freeze very nicely.

My mother use to make this cake and it was the absolute best cake she ever made. And she was a very good baker. I make this ALL the time for my family now and it is always a big hit. I follow the recipe exactly. Never an issue.
