CHERRY - ALMOND DESSERT 
1 can cherry pie filling
1 sm. loaf size white cake mix (I use 1/2 pkg. [or 2 c.] regular cake mix)
1/2 c. almonds, chopped or slivered
1/2 c. butter, melted
1/2 tsp. almond extract, add to filling (optional)

Few drops red coloring in pie mix (stir).

Put cherry pie filling in oiled 9 x 9-inch pan. Sprinkle dry cake mix on top. Place almonds on cake mix. Pour melted butter over all. Bake at 375 degrees for 40 minutes. WATCH. If recipe is doubled, use 9 x 13-inch pan and increase baking time to 55 to 60 minutes. Cool before cutting. Serve with Cool Whip or ice cream. Serves 6 +.

I use pan spray and then oil for pan preparation.
