Darn I wish I had some tater tots in the house, it's 6 miles to the grocery store, but after all the comments I'm beginning to think it's worth it.

The comments are definitely entertaining. Golden mushroom soup over the tator tots. Its from a ND 40 year old recipe and I think its best. We all have our own ways, so comment away. Very funny.

This is a great recipe for vegetarians! I substitute the cream of mushroom for cream of celery (mushrooms are about the only veggie I am not a fan of) and it tastes great! But either way, highly enjoyable. I have also substituted with soy cheeze for a similarly scrumptious and easy meal :)

Is this cooks.com or facebook? I've never thought so much about a tator tot casserole! I've been making the casserole based on a recipe in my church cookbook for 20 years. I've found that it tastes best when you mix half of the tator tots with the cream of chicken soup and ground beef, pour the rest of the tator tots on top, cook at 375°F for 45 min, sprinkle grated cheese on top, and bake for another 15 minutes. And I agree, the 13 x 9 pan works best. (I could have used this website 20 years ago!)

I don't know why everyone thinks that what Eric said was soooo funny. It's called improvising, everyone does it at some point or another and it will continue until the end of time. I am gonna add left over turkey (we made one last night) and then I am gonna personally shred some potatoes and toss in a bunch of cheese, onions, and probably some veggies. That is what you call "IMPROVISING". But all in all, everyone should make it how ever they want to. :)

This is the most fun I've ever had looking up a recipe!
Never knew "taters" to bring on anything but pleasure... who knew they had so much drama attached to them !

This was a much loved recipe when I grew up. My family used ground beef rolled, a layer of tator tots, with cream of chicken soup on top. Two full layers are ideal. Comfort food.

This was entertaining! I've never made this before. Is it better with cream of chicken or mushroom? And can you cook the tots first before putting them in?
