CRUST WITH CRUMB TOPPING 
2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
3/4 c. shortening

Cut shortening into dry ingredients and reserve 1 cup of mixture. To the remaining mixture in the bowl, add 2-3 tablespoons water. Mix. Press mixture into bottom of an 8 or 9 inch pan. Add 3 tablespoons sugar to reserved crumb mixture and sprinkle over the top of the filling (your choice). Bake as for a regular pie.
