APPLESAUCE CAKE 
2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter
1 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
1 c. unsweetened applesauce
1 c. raisins, optional

Sift together the first six ingredients; set aside. Cream butter until softened. Add the sugar gradually, creaming until fluffy. Alternately add the dry ingredients in fourths and applesauce in thirds to creamed mixture, mixing until blended after each addition. Mix in the raisins. Turn batter into a well greased 8x2x2 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until done.
