GRANDMA "B'S" SEA FOAM CHEWS 
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
2 egg yolks
1 tsp. vanilla
3 tbsp. milk
1 pkg. chocolate bits (6 oz.)
2 egg whites
1 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. nuts, chopped

Sift flour, baking powder, soda and salt together. Cream sugar and shortening; add egg yolks, vanilla and milk to creamed mixture. Add flour mixture, then press dough into 10 x 15 inch greased pan. Sprinkle chocolate bits, press into dough.

Meringue: Beat egg whites until stiff; add 1 cup brown sugar. Beat until stiff. Spread over dough and top with nuts. Bake at 325 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes.
