POUND OR LAYER CAKE 
2 sticks butter
1/2 c. Crisco
3 c. sugar
3 c. flour, plain
Pinch of salt
1/2 c. evaporated milk and 1/2 c. sweet milk mixed
6 lg. eggs
2 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter and Crisco, add sugar one cup at a time, then add vanilla. Mix well. Add one egg at a time. Add flour and milk alternately, beginning with flour and ending with flour. Beat at medium speed. For layer cake bake 30 minutes. For a pound cake bake 1 hour and 35 minutes at 300 degrees.

COCONUT ICING:

1 lg. coconut, grated
2 c. sugar
1 (8 oz.) sour cream

Mix well and spread on cake, putting the coconut juice over each layer to make it moist first.

CHOCOLATE ICING:

2 c. sugar
1 stick butter
1/4 c. white Karo syrup
1/2 c. sweet milk
2 bars chocolate or 3 tbsp. cocoa

Mix and bring to a boil until a soft ball is formed and spread on cake.
