POUND OR LAYER CAKE 
3 c. sugar
3 c. soft as silk flour or Presto cake flour
1 tsp. salt
2 sticks soft butter
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. Crisco oil
1 c. milk
1 tsp. lemon or vanilla flavoring
5 eggs

If using Presto do not use baking powder or salt.

Cream together sugar, eggs, butter and oil. Add flour, 1 cup at a time with milk. Beat with mixer 3 or 4 minutes. Pour batter in oiled and floured tube cake pan or 3 (8") cake pans. Bake in 350 degree oven for 40 to 45 minutes for tube pan, 20 to 25 minutes for layers. (Ice between layers if desired.)
