1 c. butter or shortening
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
2 c. sweetened applesauce
3 c. flour, sifted
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
2 c. quick cooking oatmeal
1 can whole berry cranberry sauce

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and cream well. Add applesauce. Blend thoroughly (may look curdled). Sift flour, baking soda, salt and spices together. Add to creamed mixture and blend well. Stir in oatmeal and cranberry sauce. Pour into 2 greased and floured 9" baking pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Dust top with powdered sugar. (Freezes well for a long time.)
