EGG-YOLK PASTRY | |
1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour 3/4 tsp. salt 1/2 c. shortening 1 egg yolk 3 tbsp. water Beaten egg white Mix flour and salt, cutting in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal. Mix egg yolk with water and gradually add to dry mixture. Gather dough together. Roll out on floured board to about 1/4 inch thickness. Cut in desired shape with pastry wheel or knife. Put on cookie sheet, prick with fork and brush slightly beaten egg white. Bake in hot oven at 425 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. (Carney's Point) |
