ORANGE SWEET POTATOES 
4 c. med. sweet potatoes
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
Dash of salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
4 tbsp. butter
1 (11 oz.) can mandarin oranges, drained or 2 fresh oranges (reserve liquid)

Cook sweet potatoes until tender; do not overcook. Chop coarsely and place in buttered casserole. In small saucepan, mix together sugars, salt, spices, and butter, with 1/4 cup orange syrup or juice. Bring to a boil and stir until sugar is dissolved. Pour mixture over potatoes. Spread orange sections over top. Bake in 350 degree oven for 45 minutes. Yields: 6 to 8 servings.
