CHARMIN' CHERRY BARS | |
1 c. Pillsbury Best all-purpose flour 1/4 c. powdered sugar 1/2 c. butter, softened FILLING: 1/4 c. flour 3/4 c. sugar 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 2 eggs 1/2 c. maraschino cherries, well drained and chopped 1/2 c. coconut 1/2 c. chopped walnuts Heat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup, level off. In small bowl, combine 1 cup flour and powdered sugar. Using fork or pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press crumb mixture firmly into bottom of ungreased 9 inch square pan. Bake for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, in small bowl, combine 1/4 cup flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add eggs and beat well. Stir in cherries, coconut, and walnuts. Spread over partially baked crust. Return to oven and bake for an additional 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely and cut into bars. |
