CENTRAL KENTUCKY YEAST BISCUITS | |
4 tbsp. sugar 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking soda 5 c. flour 1 c. shortening 2 c. buttermilk 2 pkgs. dry yeast Sift dry ingredients together and cut in shortening. Add yeast to buttermilk (lukewarm) and dissolve, then add to flour mixture, mix and knead. Roll thin and cut out with small biscuit cutter. Stack 2 biscuits together. Brush melted butter in between (or dip) and on top. Let rise and bake at 375 degrees at least 15 minutes or a little longer. Biscuits may be frozen or kept in refrigerator overnight. |
