GREEN TOMATO PICKLES 
7 lbs. sliced green tomatoes

Soak for 24 hours in 2 gallons water in which 3 cups lime has been dissolved. Drain tomatoes and soak in fresh water for 4 hours changing water every hour. Drain.

Place in kettle:

5 lbs. sugar
3 pts. vinegar
1 tsp. each of cloves, ginger allspice, celery seed, mace and cinnamon

Bring syrup to boil. Pour over tomatoes and let stand overnight. In morning boil for 1 hour. Seal in glass jars.
