APPLES 'N DUMPLINGS 
1 1/2 c. water
1 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
3 tbsp. butter
4 apples, peeled

BATTER:

1 1/2 c. self-rising flour
2/3 c. milk
1/4 c. sugar
Dash of nutmeg
Dash of cinnamon

Peel apples and cut each into 8 pieces. Place in square baking dish (grease with butter). Set aside. Bring water and sugar to a boil. Pour over apples. Sprinkle with nutmeg and cinnamon, put dots of butter on top.

Make batter mix and drop by tablespoons on top of apples. Bake in 350 degree oven for 35 minutes or until dumplings are browned.
