ENGLISH TOFFEE BARS | |
1 c. butter 1 c. sugar 1 egg yolk 2 c. all purpose flour 2 oz. (2 squares) semi sweet chocolate, melted 1 tsp. ground cinnamon 1 egg white 1 c. chopped pecans 1. Cream butter, add sugar gradually, beating until fluffy. Beat in egg yolk. 2. Sift the flour and cinnamon together, gradually add to creamed mixture, beating until blended. 3. Turn into a greased 15"x10"x1" jelly roll pan and press evenly. Brush top with egg white. Sprinkle with pecans and press lightly into dough. 4. Bake at 275 degrees for 1 hour. 5. While hot, cut into squares. Drizzle with melted chocolate. Cool on wire rack. |
