1 c. hot water
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. dates, cut up
1/2 c. butter
2 eggs
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. cocoa
1 tsp. salt

Combine hot water, soda, and dates; set aside. Cream together butter, eggs, and sugar. Add flour, cocoa, and salt. Then add date, soda, and water mixture. Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13 pan. Sprinkle with 6 ounce package chocolate chips. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
