1 c. butter
1/4 c. confectioners' sugar
2 c. sifted flour
1 c. finely chopped almonds
1 tsp. almond extract
3 dozen drained maraschino cherries

Cream butter and sugar until creamy. Add remaining ingredients except maraschino cherries. Flatten 1 1/2 teaspoons dough in your hand. Center maraschino cherry and wrap dough. Seal and form into a ball. Bake at 325 degrees for 25-30 minutes. While still hot, roll in fine granulated sugar.
