SHOO FLY PIE 
2 c. flour
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. vegetable shortening
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. warm water
1/2 c. dark Karo syrup
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. warm water
3/4 c. dark Karo syrup
1 9" unbaked pie shell

Combine first 4 ingredients and reserve 1 cup for crumbs. Mix next 3 ingredients and add to remaining mixture from first step to make a batter.

In another bowl, mix last 2 ingredients and pour into pie shell. Pour batter over this and top with the reserved crumbs. Bake 50 minutes at 375 degrees.
