HUSH PUPPIES 
1 c. self-rising flour
1 c. self-rising cornmeal
1 egg
1 tbsp sugar
1 c. cream-style corn
1 c. finely chopped onions

Combine all ingredients and add enough milk to make mixture of right consistency to hold shape when dropped in hot cooking oil in deep fryer. Take up mixture in large spoon and cut off small amount for each hush puppy with knife. Drop into hot cooking oil (375 degrees) and stir constantly as the hush puppies rise to the top. Cook until golden brown and serve hot with seafood.
