CRISPY HUSH PUPPIES | |
1/2 c. sifted flour 2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tbsp. salt 1 beaten egg 3/4 c. milk 1 1/2 c. cornmeal 1 sm. onion, finely chopped (optional) 1 tbsp. sugar Sift together dry ingredients; add onion. Add beaten egg and milk to dry ingredients and stir. Drop a teaspoon of batter for each hush puppy into hot deep fat (360 degrees) frying only a few at a time. Fry until a golden brown. Drain on absorbent paper. |
