I like my cookies softer, and baked them for 7 minutes instead of 8. What a huge difference!! They were a perfect crisp on the outside, and moist on the inside.

I love these! Depends on the devils food cake mix you use though. I have used a couple different kinds and my best results were with Duncan Hines devils food cake mix. Also, like the other review said - the frosting is enough for 2 batches so I just doubled the cookie recipe. Also I used 1/2 cup butter and 3 cups of powdered sugar and my frosting turned out great. My husband and everyone at his work loved them! Also, I like them cold so i put them in an airtight container in the fridge immediately after frosting. Try it!

Cindi, I flatten the cookies with the bottom of a glass before I cook them. They probably won't turn out like you expect, but it keeps them from being too rounded on top.

I have made these cookies many times. i love the recipe. But I recently moved to a high altitude area and the cookies won't hardly spread or flatten at all. HELP!

It was really simple and really delicious. I liked it better than the "fancier" homemade oreos I have had. For those making it the first time that may want to have less cream in between cookies, you can easily cut the frosting recipe in half. I made the whole thing and ended up throwing out about half of the frosting because I didn't want really thick cookies.

I love these. A friend sent some gourmet oreos like this from CA and I was instantly in love. So, thank you for google I found this recipe. Thanks for sharing. I made these last night and they are so simple and my 9 year old had a blast helping. It states 1/2 square butter, I used 1/2 cup unsalted sweet cream butter and the frosting came out perfect.
