HUNTER'S STEW | |
6 strips bacon 2 tbsp. butter 2 lbs. cubed chuck beef 2 c. chopped apples 4 c. shredded cabbage 1 c. beef broth 2 c. water 1 1/2 tsp. salt (opt.) 2 c. sliced carrots 1 lb. Kielbasa (Polish sausage) Cook bacon, drain and crumble. Add butter to skillet and brown beef on all sides. Add onion and apple and cook until tender. Cover with broth and water. Add salt. Cover and simmer on low for 2 hours. In the last 30 minutes, add the carrots and sausage. Ten minutes before the end of cooking time, add cabbage and bacon. Serves a crowd. |
