CARAMEL BREAD PUDDING | |
2 tbsp. butter 1 1/2 c. packed brown sugar, divided usage 6 slices white bread, cut in 1/2" cubes 6 eggs 1 tall can (13 fl. oz.) Pet evaporated milk 1/3 c. water 1 tsp. vanilla 1/8 tsp. salt 1. Generously butter shallow 1 1/2 quart casserole. Dot bottom with remaining butter. 2. Sprinkle 1 cup brown sugar over bottom. Top with bread cubes. 3. Beat eggs with wire whisk. Stir in 1/2 cup brown sugar, evaporated milk, water, vanilla and salt. Pour over bread cubes. Do not stir. 4. Place casserole in larger pan. Pour hot water into pan 1 inch deep. Bake in 325 degree preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, until knife inserted 1 inch from edge comes out clean. Serve warm or cold. Makes 6-8 servings. Note: If you like, put in part of bread cubes and add raisins (about 3/4 cup) and add rest of bread cubes. |
