CARAMEL OATMEAL BARS 
32 light caramels
5 tbsp. light cream or evaporated milk
1 c. flour
1 c. quick oatmeal
3/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. soft butter
1 c. chocolate chips
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Melt caramels with cream or evaporated milk in a double boiler. Cool slightly. Mix flour, oatmeal, brown sugar, baking soda, salt and soft butter together. Press 1/2 of this mixture in 7"x11" pan. Bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Remove from oven and sprinkle immediately with chocolate chips and nuts. Over this spread the melted caramels and top with remaining crumb mixture. Return to oven and bake 15 to 20 minutes at 350 degrees or until brown. Chill for 2 hours. Cut into squares.
